'GEM-GLP1 Trial: Gastric Emptying with Metoclopramide in GLP-1 Agonist Patients Undergoing Elective Surgery’

The GEM-GLP1 Trial is a multicentre randomised controlled trial evaluating whether a 24-hour course of oral metoclopramide can reduce residual gastric content, as assessed by ultrasound, in patients taking GLP-1 receptor agonists for weight loss. This study addresses a critical evidence gap regarding interventions with the potential to reduce aspiration risk in this growing patient cohort.

Qualifying Criteria

The annual ISRA grant of €1,000 is now closed to all ISRA members. In order for your work to be eligible for consideration, the following criteria must be met:

  1. ISRA member in good standing
  2. The grant should be in the field of regional anaesthesia and
  3. The purpose of the grant should fall under one of the following categories (Research, Travel, or Publication fees)
