ISRA needs to collect certain personal information in order to effectively carry out our everyday organisational functions and activities in the provision of services (including digital services) to our Trainees, Fellows and other parties. ISRA processes your personal information to meet our legal, statutory and contractual obligations.

We will never collect any unnecessary personal data from you and do not process your information in any way, other than as specified in this notice.

Information We Collect
To provide our services and manage memberships, we collect the following information:
  • Contact details (Name, Email, Phone Number, Home Address)
  • Professional details (Date of Birth, Irish Medical Council ID, College ID, Primary institution)

We use your data for the following reasons:
1. Performance of a Contract
We process your personal details to deliver the core services you sign up for. This includes:
  • Managing your ISRA membership registration and account.
  • Processing bookings and invoices for courses, workshops, and events.
  • Activating your dual membership benefits with the European Society of Regional Anaesthesia (ESRA).
2. Legitimate Interests
We occasionally process your information to send you updates that are highly relevant to your professional development. This includes:
  • Emailing you about upcoming ISRA exams, courses, and workshops that benefit our Trainees, Members, and Fellows.
  • Note: You can easily opt out of these updates at any time by emailing:  membership.isra@gmail.com
3. Consent
We rely on your explicit consent when you interact with our basic website features:
  • Allowing you to post comments on our website.
  • Sending you our email newsletter service if you choose to subscribe.

You are not obligated to provide your personal information to ISRA. However, as this information is required for us to provide our services, we will not be able to offer our services without it.

We never share personal information with any other organisation for third-party marketing purposes. However, we do share data with trusted partners to deliver our core membership services:

  • The European Society of Regional Anaesthesia (ESRA): Because your ISRA membership automatically grants you joint membership to ESRA, we share your processing details (including your name, email, and registration data) with ESRA to activate your dual access and full member benefits.

  • Payment & Booking Processors: We securely pass transaction details to our payment and event portal providers (such as Stripe Payments and Ticket Tailor) purely to process your payments and course registrations.

Stripe : Full privacy terms are available at https://stripe.com/ie/privacy

Ticket tailor: Full privacy terms according to GDPR regulations are available at https://www.tickettailor.com/gdpr

  • Legal Obligations: We may share information when required by law, for example, where ordered by a Court.

Personal data in the European Union is protected by the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) but some other countries may not necessarily have the same high standard of protection for your personal data. We do not transfer or store any personal data outside the EU.

ISRA  only ever retains personal information for as long as is necessary and we have strict review and retention policies in place to meet these obligations. For example, we are required under Irish tax law to keep payroll records of employees, invigilators and actors for a minimum of 6 years after which time it will be destroyed.

Where you have consented to us using your details for direct marketing, we will keep such data until you notify us otherwise and/or withdraw your consent.

We will apply appropriate technical and organisational measures to ensure your personal information is secure.  For example, we have systems in place to ensure that access to personal information is restricted to authorised individuals on a strictly need-to-know basis.

To help us ensure confidentiality of your personal information we may ask you (and any of your representatives) security questions to confirm your identity when you call us and as may be necessary when we call you. We will not discuss your personal information with anyone other than you, unless you have given us prior written authorisation to do so or where we have received a clear verbal instruction from you (as a one-off circumstance).

We are committed to upholding your rights in respect of your personal data.

The right to be informed

Through the provision of this and other privacy notices on the website, we will be open and transparent about how and why we use your personal information.

The right of access

You have a right to ask us what personal information we hold about you and to request a copy of your information. This is known as a ‘subject access request’ (SAR).

SARs need to be made in writing and we ask that your written request is accompanied by proof of your address and identity.

If you are seeking to obtain specific information (e.g. about a particular matter or from a particular time period), it helps if you clarify the details of what you would like to receive in your written request.

If someone is requesting information on your behalf they will need written confirmation from you to evidence your consent for us to release this and proof of ID (both yours and theirs).

We have 30 calendar days within which to provide you with the information you’ve asked for (although we will try to provide this to you as promptly as possible).

The right to rectification

You can ask us to rectify your personal data if it is inaccurate or incomplete. Please help us to keep our records accurate by keeping us informed if your details change.

The right to erasure

The right to erasure is also known as ‘the right to be forgotten’. In some circumstances, you can ask us to delete or remove personal data where there is no compelling reason for its continued processing.  This is not an absolute right, and we will need to consider the circumstances of any such request and balance this against our need to continue processing the data.  Our response will also be guided by the provisions of our retention schedule.

The right to object

You can tell us you object to us processing your data to provide update emails.

You can specifically opt-out of update emails at any time by following the link at the bottom of each email.
